Representative Projects
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Rectory Buildings
The church and school grounds are a focal point for many in the local Enchi community. Expansion of the current building was started and then abandoned many years before Monsignor Simon Assamoah's arrival. It was Msgr. Simon's dream to resume construction of an approximately 5,000 square foot structure in the same location as the current building to accommodate the growing needs of the parish community. His dream was realized in 2018 with completion of construction by employing many members of the community.
Related subsequent completed construction projects are a rectory and a second rectory for retired priests.
Increase Public Access to Clean Water and Sanitation
Continuing efforts are being made to dig deep wells and add water towers, septic tanks and restroom facilities in the west side of Enchi. This work brings increased access to clean water and improved overall sanitation conditions. In January 2015, construction was started on a storage area to house items sent 40-foot container in November ’14. One item in the container, a commercial sprayer, is shared by the entire village of Enchi for mosquito control.
Agricultural Development
Agricultural development is an important and effective way to support a community. Our goal is to encourage sustainable farming practices to grow all the food needed now and in the future. Income from cocoa farming is subsequently used for agricultural development of food sources. Installation of irrigation methods are frequently part of the process. Our farm projects include cocoa, fish, snails, chickens, maize, plantains and cassava. Many of these projects are supported by local and national government entities.
Fish Pond Construction
Two fish ponds were constructed in 2015 in an effort to provide the people of the village of Enchi a renewable source of protein. The continuing effort in this challenging endeavor is to improve the sustainable yield of fish production.
